Blackboard Tour Philippines 2017

Blackboard APAC conducted an event at the Edsa Shagri La, Manila last April 4, 2017. The attendees were updated with what’s new with Blackboard Solutions. The facilitators shared success stories from users and insights from and adoption specialists. Different workshops designed specifically for faculty members, learning designers, developers and education leaders were conducted. Delegates from the Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite Campus joined the event and learned a lot about eLearning and Moodlerooms.

Mr. Philip Murray, the Regional Vice President of Blackboard Asia, opened the program with a very warm welcome remark. Mr. Nick Benwell, the Solutions Engineer of Blackboard, talked about “Enhancing Your Virtual Classroom with Blackboard Collaborate: New Features and Updates”. Mr. Chris Eske, the Senior Platform Executive for Analytics of Blackboard talked  about the empowering of institutional transformation with data. The Headmaster of Career Academy Asia, Mr. Manuel Dela Fuente discussed how he initially set out to design an academic program that would best achieve the vision and mission of his institution, a new senior highschool. Learners from Career Academy Asia shared their unforgettable and most treasured experiences in using Blackboard. Ms. Foong Yee Leong, Go-To-Market Ops Executive, talked about the accessibility of the program and about bringing education to everyone. She presented Blackboard Ally and how this accessibility solution helps institutions gain detailed insights into the accessibility of their digital course content, thru providing guidance to teachers on how to improve the accessibility of their content, thereby automatically providing students with a range of alternative formats.

After the resource speakers shared their knowledge in each topics, the participants were divided into two groups to attend different workshop sessions. The first group was assigned on Competencies and Outcomes – Charting Learner Performance with the speaker Dr. Susan D’Aloia, the Client Success Advocate of Blackboard. The workshop engaged the participants to distinguish between outcomes, competencies, and learning objectives as the first step towards crafting eLearning initiatives important to stakeholders. The other group’s speaker was Mr. Nick Benwell and he discussed the Course Design and Evaluation Principles. He shared the aspects of course design and course evaluation that can be utilized within Moodlerooms to help institutions measure student performance and course effectiveness.
